Raydio first came together in Detroit in 1977, and quickly found success with their hit song “Jack and Jill” the following year. A top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100, “Jack and Jill” earned the group a deal with Arista Records. In 1979, Raydio released “You Can’t Change That,” a top three hit on Billboard’s Hot R&B chart.
The group’s successes continued with the release of A Woman Needs Love in 1981, a number one R&B smash that was certified gold. The title track was a number one hit as well and remains their most successful song to date. Nevertheless, Raydio quietly disbanded later that year. The members went on to enjoy markedly successful solo careers before reuniting under the Raydio name in 2014.
