The crew debuted in the early seventies with many hits under their belt until securing their place on the charts in 1978. Their first hit was the sultry ballad “Special Lady” which topped the R&B charts in 1979 and even reached No. 5 on the pop charts. They scored another Top 20 hit in 1980 entitled “Inside of You” before moving record labels three times from Polydor to Panoramic and then to EMI. They didn’t appear to have another hit single for six years when they came out with “Take It to the Limit” which hit the Top 10 in the charts and is still played today. In the late eighties, they also appeared as background vocalists for Sarah Dash.
Since then, Ray, Goodman & Brown have put out numerous albums including The Delfonics vs Ray, Goodman & Brown Live in Concert in 2021, which included nine songs.
