They are known for their unique signature sound that blends musical elements from funk, reggae and salsa. Fans refer to their style as “trippy pop.” Rawayana is made up of Alejandro Abeijon on guitar, Andres Story on drums, Antonio Casas on bass and Alberto Montenegro on vocals.

Rawayana was founded in Caracas in 2007. They spent a number of years refining their sound and growing a regional following before releasing their critically acclaimed album Trippy Caribbean in 2016. The album earned the group a nomination for the Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist, catapulting Rawayana to fame overnight.

In the years that followed, the band garnered international attention for their politically conscious lyrics detailing the suffering of the working class during the Venezuelan economic crisis. As their exposure grew, Rawayana began collaborating with a slew of high-profile artists including Akapellah, Cheo Pardo and Los Amigos Invisibles. They maintain a cult-like following to this day, in large part due to their enthusiastic, interactive live shows.
