McIvor is known for his stand up comedy routines that involve a purple puppet–the two often perform musical comedy that breaks the fourth wall and develops lengthy backstories for the puppet.
Born in 1980, McIvor began training in puppetry when he was 13. In 2002 he landed his first professional puppetry job working for Melbourne’s Polyglot Theatre. McIvor went on to enjoy success in film and television, providing puppet work for the likes of The Hobbit, Me and My Monsters and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
McIvor first created the character of Randy Feltface after he was hired to create a puppet video about workplace bullying for an insurance company. Though the video was not well-received, McIvor rebranded the character to create a stand up comedy routine. Randy Feltface’s first stand up comedy appearance was as part of Philip Millar’s Pure Puppet Palaver. The act has since gone on to enjoy runaway success, with Feltface appearing on Bring the Funny and Sammy J & Randy in Ricketts Lane, among others.
