Public Announcement came together in Chicago in the late 80s, where they became known for their signature “new jack swing” style that fused hip hop and traditional R&B elements. They got their big break in 1991 when they were discovered by R. Kelly, who signed the trio to Jive Records. In 1992 R. Kelly and Public Announcement released their critically acclaimed collaborative album Born into the 90s. The album would eventually go platinum, and contained the number one hits “Honey Love” and “Slow Dance (Hey Mr. DJ).”

In the years that followed the group endured several lineup changes and hiatuses, but reformed in 1996. They released their album All Work, No Play through A&M Records in 1988, which contained the top five hit “Body Bumpin’ (Yippie-Yi-Yo).” Public Announcement enjoyed further hits in the late 90s and early 2000s such as “John Doe,” “Mamacita” and “Man Ain’t Supposed to Cry.” Public Announcement tickets put you in front of the stage to see this groovy R&B group take the stage.
