The idea for the band was conceived by Dylan Germick and Josh Cantero along with their bassist Rob Gwin. Their music can only be described as uplifting, body-positive, inclusive electro-pop funk.
Planet Booty has released three full albums between 2009 and 2017 entitled “Planet Booty,” “Future Sweat,” and “Naked.” They also released three singles in 2020 entitled “You’re a Star,” “Dancing in my Bedroom,” and “All I Want for Christmas is Booty.” The band has collaborated with several well-known artists including Lizzo, TWRP, and Ninja Sex Party.
Germick has said that the band’s whole philosophy, known as the booty ethos, is body positivity and sex positivity that sees no gender. They aim to reclaim the sexual objectification that is present in today’s music and turn it into something positive. The band brings in a large amount of humor to their music balancing rhythm, timing, flashy sailor costumes, booty shorts and comedic effect.
