In addition to being an album producer of great acclaim during this time period, he went on to produce hits from artists like 10,000 Maniacs and Cher in the late 80s.
In February 1995, Asher was named Senior Vice President of Sony Music Entertainment in which he left in 2002 and returned full-time to managing artists' careers until 2007 when Simon Renshaw (who manages The Dixie Chicks) founded his company Strategic Artist Management. He then produced a reunion tour with Carole King and James Taylor in 2007.
