He was born in 1947 in Saint Francois de Pabos to a large musical family. Daraiche's love for music came from listening to his mother plays the harmonium, as well as listening to radio from the Deep South. He began learning guitar when he was ten and taught himself to read music by studying scores from Charles Aznavour. When he was 13, Daraiche gave his first performances in local cabaret shows.
Daraiche's professional career started in 1965 when the artist joined the band Les Loups Blancs. After briefly touring with the group in and around Quebec, Daraiche joined the rock band Les Sinners, writing several songs for the band with arranger Angelo Finaldi. His sister then introduced him to the country music scene, and in 1979 the two won the ADISQ Gala Award for Western Album of the Year. Daraiche released his first solo country album, T'envoler, the following year. He has since joined forces with producer Mario Pelchat, with whom he has released a number of successful albums.
