For a period in the late '70s and early '80s Ramey moved to North Carolina and performed rock covers with her first husband, Terry Lovelace, until eventually returning to Nashville and starting out on what was to become a successful career as a country singer.
In 2005 after recording the album 'Dreamin' My Dreams' her record company Epic closed the doors on its Nashville operation and Ramey took a short break from the music business. Her most recent album is the Grammy Award-winning 'Blue Mountain Soul II' which she released in 2009.
