In 1965, Milanes was sent to Camaguey, where he entered a forced labor camp. He escaped the camp, fleeing back to Havana to speak about the injustices he faced. Altogether, Milanes has released more than a dozen albums, singles and EPs. His passion shines through with each project he immerses himself in.
