The band would enjoy further significant success with their 1980 album Ghost Riders. The album’s lead single “(Ghost) Riders in the Sky” reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
Though Outlaws were primarily a country-rock band, they became known for their extensive use of vocal harmony—a characteristic uncommon in the genre.
