Led by singer-songwriter Jimmy Gnecco, the group dates back to 1990 and continued in their early years under a number of names before settling into the Ours moniker. They released a debut album, Sour, on Beatnik Records in 1994 but shortly after the group disbanded.
After a couple of years, Gnecco restarted the group in 1997 with a fiery determination and quickly began attracting attention in the industry. They signed with DreamWorks Records and released their breakthrough album, Distorted Lullabies, in 2001 produced by Grammy winner Steve Lillywhite. The album featured the popular single “Sometimes” which expanded their fanbase with support on MTV and rock radio and reached No. 31 on the Billboard Rock chart. They took a more stripped down approach with their follow up album, Precious, in 2002 which received praise from critics and fans alike. After relocating to Los Angeles, the band began working with iconic producer Rick Rubin which resulted in 2008’s Mercy...Dancing for the Death of an Imaginary Enemy.
