The Beavers women’s gymnastics program began in 1966, with the team first competing in 1967 under the leadership of inaugural coach Sylvia Moore. Moore would coach until 1975. Ron Ludwig took over for the 1976 season. Ludwig’s Beavers captured won five NCAA Regional Championships. Also, in his tenure, the school had their first NCAA champion with Laurie Carter on the balance beam.
