The Orchestra dates back to 1934 when an ensemble of musicians called Les Concerts Symphoniques was assembled by Canadian conductor and first Music Director Wilfrid Pelletier. The first performance was on January 14, 1935, and was led by maestro Rosario Bourdon. The Orchestra took the name Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal in 1954.
