The band consisted of John Pazdan on bass guitar and backing vocals, Paul McDermott, Dan Santercola, lead vocalist Cliff Johnson and Paul Darrow.
The group changed lineups frequently in the early years. Their debut album On, released in 1979 by Atlantic Records, included Pazdan and Johnson and had John Ivan on guitar, drummer Ken Harck and Rob Harding on guitar and backing vocals. On reached No. 51 on the Billboard charts. Their single “Stay in Time” reached No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Bad Indicator” was the second single released from On.

Two tracks from that CD were released as singles, including “Automatic” and “Are You Alone.” The band toured for three years, mostly as opening acts for Heavy Metal bands, and then the group broke up in 1983.
On was re-released as a CD in 1996 and four members of the group united with the name Black on Blond. A new album, Fallin’ In, was released in 1997 under the Pavement label to mixed reviews. This album was followed up in 1998 by Live at Fitzgerald’s. The group is fondly remembered as a power-pop group along the lines of Cheap Trick.
