The first All-American in Northern wrestling history was Brian Hines, who was All-American in 1924. He then went on to compete in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, France, winning a bronze medal there.

Other wrestlers of note include Wildcat Jake Herbert, who competed in the 2012 Olympics after winning the Dan Hodge Trophy in 2009, awarded to the most dominant wrestler of the year. Ryan Deakins went undefeated in the 2019-20 season and was named a Dan Hodge Trophy finalist.
