Nils Jiptner, otherwise more commonly known as just Nils, is a renowned contemporary jazz guitarist with a groove-rooted style that is born out of his longtime love for funk and fusion. Hailing from Munich, Germany, he became enamored with the guitar at a very young age, sparked by the music from Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple which dominated the radio waves of his youth.

However, soon his interest began to sway away from traditional rock as his fascination with jazz grew, studying the works of legendary jazz guitarists such as Larry Carlton and Robben Ford. Continuing to harness his craft, he took his talents to Los Angeles where he found work as a session musician, even scoring playing time alongside musical greats like George Benson and The Temptations. Soon enough, he would make his solo debut with 1998’s Blue Planet, an album that featured a staggering cast of all-star musicians, including George Benson, Carl Anderson, Jeanette Jurado, and many more. From this point forward, Jiptner had solidified himself as a bonafide leading man, as Nils tickets became the next hottest thing for jazz fans.

Nils would go on to take his career to a whole other level in 2005 with the release of his sophomore album, Pacific Coast Highway. The first two tracks from this release, “Pacific Coast Highway” and “Black Pocket,” both dominated the Billboard, each going number one on the Smooth Jazz Songs charts. “Pacific Coast Highway” in particular was a smash hit, declared the Song of the Decade by Billboard and cementing his status as a smooth guitar jazz legend.
