After playing guitar for Jimmy Rogers, Moss began to pursue a solo career and released his debut album First Offense in 1998 as Nick Moss and the Flip Tops. He released four more albums under the moniker, including 2009’s Live at Chan’s, all of which were nominated for a W. C. Handy Award. He later changed the group's name to the Nick Moss Band and has released a number of albums including 2014’s Time Ain’t Free which was named by Guitar World magazine as one of the top 50 albums of the year and 2019’s Lucky Guy! in collaboration with harmonicist Dennis Gruenling, which won two Blues Music Awards.
