Born in 1969 in Chicago, Moss learned to play electric bass as a teenager. During the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, he played in a number of prominent bands including the Legendary Blues Band and the bands of Jimmy Dawkins and Buddy Scott. Moss then turned toward a solo career, beginning with the release of his debut album First Offense in 1998.
Moss’ next four albums would all earn nods for a Blues Music Award, and the Nick Moss Band began playing prominent events like the Ottawa Blues Festival and the Memphis in May International Festival. In 2011 Moss’ album Here I Am was nominated for the Blues Music Award for Best Rock Blues Album, and in 2019 the artist received the Blues Music Award for Traditional Blues Male Artist of the Year. In 2020 the Nick Moss Band earned the Blues Music Award for Band of the Year along with the award for Traditional Blues Album of the Year for their album Lucky Guy!
