That idea led to the building of the Straz Center, formerly known as Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, in the 1980s. The Next Generation Ballet became The Straz Center’s resident ballet company. With this, trainees put on three professional-quality performances. These performances include a production of The Nutcracker in the Morsani Hall in the month of December. Then in the spring, there is a showcase of contemporary dances in the Ferguson Hall. Lastly, in May, there has either been a full-length ballet such as Sleeping Beauty or Don Quixote or a mix of performances in the same hall.
