The Titans play Tier II junior hockey as part of the North American Hockey League and were founded in 2005. From 2005 to 2012 the team played out of Traverse City, Mich., as the Traverse City North Stars, then from 2012 to 2015 played out of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., as the Soo Eagles.
In 2015, Middletown Township purchased the franchise, though the city had previously enjoyed Tier III junior hockey teams in the Eastern, Metropolitan Junior and North American 3 Hockey Leagues.
Since their transfer to New Jersey in 2015, the Titans have enjoyed several successful seasons. Their inaugural season in the new location saw the Titans post a 34-22 record and make an appearance in the playoffs. They have yet to play a losing season in Middletown Township, enjoying a particularly strong year in 2019 when they posted a 38-13 record.
