The group’s music is inspired by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, who Devaney listened to as a child.

Nation of Language saw popularity with their first release, “What Does The Normal Man Feel?” in 2016, attracting attention. However, their reputation would skyrocket after being joined by Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes, providing his drumming talent on tracks from 2018 onward. The group also collaborates with former The Static Jacks member Nick Brennan on their “Automobile” track, featured on their first album. 2020 also saw the release of “The Wall & I”, one of Nation of Language’s most popular releases. The group is also known for Devaney’s work alongside the group Machinegum, where he features as their vocalist.
