In early 2014, the band began work on their debut LP. This lineup formed the basis for Spring Demo, which was recorded in May of that year and subsequently released as a six-track EP through Northern California-based label Fourth Row Records. Only Eric and Austin perform on the acoustic-only Spring Demo, while the next released self-titled EP had electric instrumentation with new members Josh Perline on bass/vocals and David McDowall on drums. The year after, the three would release their final EP, entitled Allergic. Gabriel (Gabe) Paganin became the band's live bassist shortly thereafter, and Josh Perline left on good terms following the record's release. On July 3, 2016, Best Buds was released by Mom Jeans as their debut full-length record.

During this era, Bart Thompson of Graduating Life and Meet Me in Montauk fame began to play guitar for the group. NOW That's What I Call Music Vol. 420 is a split EP that was released on October 6, 2017, by Counter Intuitive Records. It contains music from Mom Jeans as well as the bands' Pictures of Vernon and Prince Daddy & The Hyena. In September 2019, the band confirmed that it would be touring with Hobo Johnson with Billy Bouzos (the Oakland-based indie label Slang Church's owner) replacing Sam Kless on bass.
