Militarie Gun is the project of Ian Shelton, a singer and drummer known for playing in the fast-paced punk style called powerviolence. Shelton had been rehearsing with his band Regional Justice Center in preparation for their appearance at the 2020 South by Southwest Music Festival when the festival was canceled. Unsure how to move on, Shelton began making recordings in his private practice space as part of a project that would become Militarie Gun. 

Shelton released his first EP under the Militarie Gun name later that year, My Life Is Over. He has since recruited bassist Max Epstein, drummer Vince Nguyen, and guitarists William Acuna and Nick Cogan to complete Militarie Gun and render it a fully-formed band. They released two more EPs, All Roads Lead to Gun Vols. 1 and 2. 

Shelton found a love for punk music at an early age while growing up in San Francisco, eventually becoming enamored with the fast-paced and aggressive style of punk rock known as powerviolence. After moving to Los Angeles he formed Regional Justice Center, which became a pillar of the growing hardcore punk scene.
