The group came together in McHenry in the early 2010s with a vision of playing a modern style of progressive bluegrass.
In 2014 Miles Over Mountains set off on their first series of tours, growing a devoted following in the Midwest in particular. The following year they released their debut album Five Star Heart Breaker to critical acclaim. They have since released two additional albums, Ballads & Burners and Work Harder Not Smarter in 2017 and 2020, respectively. They are known for their rigorous touring schedule, sophisticated musicianship and high-energy live performances.
Miles Over Mountains have played prominent events such as the Summer Camp Festival, the Mountain Top Festival and the Ladies of Bluegrass Festival. They have performed alongside high-profile acts like Smashing Pumpkins, the People Brothers Band and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony.
