In addition, the title track became Howard’s first U.S. hit single, peaking at No. 5 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart. 

In 1988, Miki Howard was honored with the Soul Train Music Award for Best New Artist. She released her self-titled album the following year, which became Howard’s most successful album to date. Not only did the album peak at No. 4 on the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart, but it included three top-five singles, “Ain’t Nuthin’ in the World,” “Love Under New Management” and “Until You Come Back to Me (That’s What I’m Gonna Do).” The album's success caused the demand for Miki Howard tickets to skyrocket as she went on tour to support her newest album. 

Miki Howard was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2002 for her album Three Wishes, which secured top 60 positions in multiple US charts. In 2012, she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chicago Music Awards.
