It’s full-on folk/rock with a pair of Midlake tickets. Hailing from Denton, TX, Midlake was formed in 1999 by passionate jazz students. The sextet consists of Eric Pulido, McKenzie Smith, Paul Alexander, Eric Nichelson, Jesse Chandler and Joey McClellan. They are associated with Alternative rock, folk/rock, psychedelic rock and progressive rock styles of music.

The group signed with Bella Union Records and later recorded under ATO. Midlake gained its widely diverse fanbase, performing across Europe. They have also slayed festivals such as Les Inrockuptibles, Wintercase, End of the Road and South by Southwest with their infectious talent.

Despite the group’s dedication to jazz and funk with homage paid to the great Herbie Hanock (original members studied at the University of North Texas College of Music), Midlake shifted to a more indie rock sound with Smith setting aside the saxophone to write song influenced by such as Jethro Tull, Radiohead, Bjork and Grandaddy.

According to Smith in an interview with Reverb Magazine, “We were jazz musicians, but right from the get-go, we’d never really play jazz music. We’d play some funk stuff and then jump right into playing Led Zeppelin.” Altogether, the band has released four, full-length LPs and 16 singles and EPs, including their smash hits “Young Bride,” “Am I Going Insane” and “The Old and the Young.” Midlake tickets have arrived at TicketSmarter.
