Lington performed in many Eurovision song contests, as well as Rhythmic Conservatory youth competitions. He won the Rhythmic Conservatory’s first prize in 1987 and the gold medal the following year.

Lington moved to Los Angeles as a young man to pursue a music career. The reputation he developed in the local jazz scene saw him tour for several years with both Randy Crawford and Bobby Caldwell. The artist released his debut album in 1997, and the album’s song “Tell It Like It Is” became a top ten hit on the Radio & Records Smooth Jazz chart.

Lington’s 2008 album Heat made it into the top five on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and received the JazzTrax award for Album of the Year. His 2012 single “Road Trip” saw the artist achieve another spot in Billboard’s top five, as well as the number one spot on the Instrumental Radio chart.
