At thirteen he encountered the works of Pete Johnson, Meade Lux Lewis and Albert Ammons, influences which would later affect his distinctive boogie-woogie style. 

Kaeshammer cut his teeth performing jazz and boogie-woogie music at clubs and festivals throughout Germany, continuing to perform in Canada following his family’s move in the mid-90s. Later that year the artist released his debut album Blue Keys, which was met with high praise. In the years that followed Kaeshammer began opening for a slew of high-profile acts including Ray Charles, Allen Toussaint and Holly Cole. In addition to his appearances throughout the US and UK, the pianist has also toured extensively through China. 

In 2003 Kaeshammer released his critically acclaimed album Strut, and gave a celebrated appearance on Bravo! Television’s Jazz Sessions. He has performed at both the Winter and Summer Olympics, and to date has been nominated for seven Juno Awards. Kaeshammer has received the West Coast Music Awards for Musician of the Year and Entertainer of the Year.
