McAllen Wind Ensemble Concert Tickets
Rich history and music come together in concert with McAllen Wind Ensemble tickets. Founded in 1973 by Bill Wilson, the McAllen Wind Ensemble was inspired by a trip to Mexico where community bands serenade people all over town throughout the day. Determined to put his own Archer Park to good use, Wilson visited the local high school band directors to invite them and their musicians to participate in their own community band. Paul Garrett, a former member of John Philip Sousa’s band and experienced conductor, enthusiastically accepted the job of director and proceeded to get financial support from local businesses. The McAllen Wind Ensemble’s first rehearsal took place in 1973 at the McAllen High School Band Hall and four months later in 1974, they played their first concert in Archer Park.
In the years since, the ensemble has performed an annual 4th of July and Christmas concert, as well as played at a multitude of community functions all year long, becoming a mainstay of the town. World-class artists like The Stonebeck Sisters, Maria Avalos and Alberto Escobedo also share the stage with the wind ensemble for exceptional concerts.
