Following years of performing in coffee shops and at open mics, the band broke through to mainstream attention with the release of their sophomore album Falling Farther In in 1995. The album reached the top of the Billboard 200, and October Project soon began touring with high-profile acts like Crash Test Dummies and Sarah McLachlan.

Fahl set off on her solo career in 2000, releasing her EP Lenses of Contact in 2001. The release saw the artist combine elements from folk, pop and classic rock music, and earned rave reviews from publications like Allmusic, Billboard and the New York Press.
