Hear the superb sounds of the violin with Martin Chalifour tickets. For 25 years, Martin Chalifour has been the Principal Concertmaster for Los Angeles Philharmonic. He graduated with honors from Montreal Conservatory and then went on to study at Curtis Institute in Philadelphia where he learned all about being a classical musician.
Chalifour is an artist with many talents. He has a solo career that includes his diverse performing abilities, but he also collaborates regularly and on different projects to keep things interesting! He plays the violin, viola da gamba, harpsichord, organ: you name it! In 2012 he won First Prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow while also garnering acclaim from the Montreal International Competition where they awarded him a Certificate of Honor.
Outside the US, Chalifour traveled extensively around Asia playing solos alongside many renowned orchestras including those like Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and the Hong Kong Philharmonic, among others. He has also appeared with such renowned conductors as Gustavo Dudamel, Christopher Eschenbach, and Sir Nevil Marriner.

His love for his native country has led him back there often, where he teaches and performs as a soloist with various Canadian orchestras.
Most recently Frank performed in Vancouver alongside Bramwell Tovey and Gemma New. In addition to recording music for the Telarc, Northstar and Yarlung labels, Martin Chalifour teaches at Caltech and the University Of Southern California-Thornton School Of Music.
