He founded Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles from the female students of the Mariachi Heritage Society. Famed singer Lola Beltran mentored the group and provided a role model for the fledgling mariachis. In the years since their foundation, the mariachi band has developed into an accomplished musical group.
Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles has released three albums, Solo Tuya (1998), El Mujer Mariachi Femenino del Mundo (2002) and Compañeras (2008). Compañeras was nominated for a Grammy in 2009 for Best Mexican American/Tejano Music Performance.
