The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Go Tejano Committee each year hold a competition for five mariachi groups based in the state of Texas, which are invited to participate in a competition. Bands are judged based on both the quality of music and showmanship.
The first round of the competition, called the Showcase, takes place at the Arena the day before the Semifinals. The Semifinals are then held the next day at the Hideout at NRG Park on Go Tejano Day. The Finals are then held in NRG Stadium to crown the winner. Past winners of the competition include the Mariachi Mariposas, a 13-member all-female group based in South Texas and directed by Mayra Garcia that won the 27th annual Mariachi Invitational for the second time.
Hear great performers with Mariachi Invitational tickets. Other past winners include Sant Antonio-based Mariachi Azteca de America, founded by Gumecindo “Gino” Rivera in 2006. Rivera is a third-generation mariachi, whose parents played in Mariachi Los Parientes and has performed in both Mariachi Mexicanisimo and Mariachi Azteca and strives to both keep to the traditional forms of Mariachi while also creating new compositions. The group’s members range from 21 to 34 years of age.

Mariachi Invitational ticket prices will depend on the size of the venue and location of your seats, but you can expect cheaper tickets to start around $40 with floor seats and VIP options costing $325 or more.
