Platts founded Mamas Gun in London in 2007, recruiting the other members through online social media ads. The members had previously enjoyed success as session musicians for high-profile artists such as John Oates, Park Hyo Shin and Leon Ware. In 2008, Mamas Gun released their debut single “Pots of Gold,” which received widespread airplay on BBC Radio 2.

The band’s unique signature sound quickly garnered a devoted following, and they released their first full-length album Routes to Riches to considerable critical acclaim. Routes to Riches enjoyed success in Japan, in particular, reaching the number three spot on the Japanese charts. Mamas Gun continues to tour and record today, with a handful of the members also performing in the group Young Gun Silver Fox as well.
