John Boutte introduced him to the local music in the city and inspired King to begin playing his music on the streets of New Orleans. He played with various bands including The Loose Marbles Jazz Band, George Porter Jr., and Paul Sanchez’s “Nine Lives” project. Hurricane Katrina put a damper on King’s plans, and he relocated to New York City where he was a music therapist for people with developmental disabilities. After many years in New York, King moved back to New Orleans where he had his own music label called Earthwork Music. Next, he signed with a Chicago record label named Blood Shot Records.
