Hawkins and Alexander formed the Lowest Of The Low in 1990 in the wake of the breakup of their previous band Popular Front. After filling out their lineup they quickly rose to prominence in Toronto’s pop-punk underground, releasing their album Shakespeare My Butt the following year through Page Publications. Shakespeare My Butt would become one of the best-selling independent releases in Canadian history, and within only a few years had been named one of the top ten greatest Canadian albums by publications like Chart. Despite a brief hiatus beginning in 1995, the group reunited in 2000 and continues to tour to a devoted cult following.
