In 2013, Skip Holtz took over as head coach of the Bulldogs, and while his first season was underwhelming, he quickly turned things around. In Holtz’s second season, the Bulldogs ended up winning the Heat of Dallas Bowl 35-18 over Illinois’ Fighting Illini team. The following season saw the Bulldogs winning another major college bowl with a 47-28 victory in the New Orleans Bowl over Arkansas State.
