In the songstress’ own words, the made-up name Lomelda means “echo of the stars.” Lomelda is associated with folk, indie pop and indie rock styles of music. The artist’s career began in 2015 when she signed under the guidance of independent label, Double Double Whammy.
The Silsbee, TX Native began playing music in bands alongside her brother and their high school friends. Her first full-length album, Forever dropped in 2015, followed by Thx in 2017, M for Empathy in 2019 and Hannah in 2020. Lomelda co-produces her records with Tommy Read and admits to writing much of her music while living and sleeping in her car.
In 2017, Stereogum, a daily Internet publication focusing on music news, reviews, interviews and commentaries, named Lomelda one of their “Bands to Watch.” Her emerging use of piano adds to her customary guitar-oriented songs. Lomelda’s inspirational songs include “Bunk,” “M for Magic” and “M for Mush.” Since the release of Hannah, Lomelda has continued to mature vocally and instrumentally with a songwriting prowess that is unparalleled by other artists in her genre.
