Little Miss Higgins is the stage name for Jolene Higgins, a folk/blues musician known for her work as the frontwoman for the band Little Miss Higgins and the Winnipeg Five. Born in Brooks, Alberta, Higgins showed a talent for music at a young age. After encountering the work of blues singer Memphis Minnie, she decided to pursue a music career. Memphis Minnie remains one of the strongest influences on Higgins’ sound.
In the early 2000s, the artist released her debut EP as well as her first full-length album The Cobbler Shop Sessions. It would take until 2007 however, for Higgins to rise to national attention. That year she released her sophomore album Junction City, which earned a nod for the Juno Award for Blues Album of the Year.
In the early 2010s, Higgins formed the band Little Miss Higgins and the Winnipeg Five, with whom she released the album Bison Ranch Recording Sessions in 2013. Bison Ranch Recording Sessions received a Juno Award nomination for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year.
