The band’s members met when they were teenagers after attending a music program at Berklee College of Music. It wasn’t until 1994 that the group began playing gigs regularly. Though they developed a following across the eastern U.S., they played mainly covers until 2002, when they released their first album. The album, titled Outta Here, was released under the Velour Records label and helped the group gain a larger following. The group released several more albums in the years to come including Rage (2008), Fly (2012) and Mt. Crushmore (2016). Their 2015 album, Crush, topped the U.S. jazz charts and made it to the number five spot on the U.S. Heat chart. The band's 2020 album, Elevate, earned a Grammy Award nomination for Instrumental Album of the Year. Along with these studio albums, they also released two live albums.
