See this legend of the punk scene with Lach tickets. Not much is known about the background of Lach, and even after a more than 30 years career, his identity is unknown. What is known is he was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and grew up in Rockland County. He was classically trained on the piano as a child but gravitated toward punk after discovering the likes of the Clash and the Sex Pistols. He attended a few different colleges, eventually grading from Boston University before moving to Greenwich Village in 1983. After not landing a spot with any official clubs Lach started his own extra-legal after-hours joint called the Fort. This was quickly shut down and became an infamous, groove establishment. But Lach’s style was truly born when, in response to the New York City Folk Festival, he started his own Antifolk festival.
Lach has only released a handful of albums, but all have received rave reviews. His debut album Contender and the added EP Family Values Pack had the track “The Hillary Clinton Song” that receive impressive radio play for an indie song. Blang! Dropped in 1999, Kids Fly Free in 2001, Today in 2004 and The Calm Before in 2009. Lach then moved to Edinburgh where he wrote a book The Day I Went Insane which was commissioned for a series and in 2014 BBC Radio 4 premiered The Lach Chronicles.
