The Mexican regional group, La Original Banda el Limon de Salvador Lizarraga, specializes in banda music in the style of Sinaloa, performing corridos, rancheras, cumbias and ballads as well as boleros and sones. The original band El Banda Limon was formed in 1965 in the town of El Limon in Sinaloa. Salvador Lizarraga took control of the group in 1976, with innovations such as the first banda in the region to use sound equipment as well as a dedicated lead vocalist.
In 1997, Rene Camacho was temporarily placed in charge while Lizarraga recovered from a stroke. When Perraga returned, the two clashed over the direction of the band and consequently the band split into two. The band members who supported Lizarraga formed under the name La Original Banda El Limon de Salvador Lizarraga, or La Original Banda El Limon for short.
