Knoxville Jazz Orchestra Concert Tickets
If you do not think of Tennessee as being a jazz hotspot, your purchase of Knoxville Jazz Orchestra tickets may change your mind. Back in 1999, Vance Thompson had returned home to Tennessee after working with a big band in Chicago. Anxious to continue in that direction, he decided to recruit the talented local musicians in Knoxville. After their first rehearsal, it was clear that they had potential. With consistent practice, the group began performing in public and earning some recognition.
Thompson continued writing and arranging music that led to their first recording, The Music of Donald Brown (2000). This opened the door to the Montreal Jazz Festival and others in 2001. The seventeen-piece band then shifted its focus to promoting jazz music in East Tennessee by forming a nonprofit organization and inviting other famous jazz musicians to perform with them. They also founded a youth orchestra to encourage young people in the arts. Audience members who get Knoxville Jazz Orchestra tickets are captivated by the sweet sounds that have carried on for decades.
After 20 years, the orchestra is better than ever with more than 50 events every year and a long list of famous artists. Guest performers include James Moody, Christian McBride and Hank Jones, among others. They have also recorded several albums, including the more recent The Road Less Traveled, which celebrated their twentieth anniversary. Exceptional musicianship and enduring passion set this orchestra apart from all others.
