Born in Manhattan, Kevin Rudolf had a love of music instilled in him from an early age thanks to his mother's aspirations to be a rock singer. He learnt to play the guitar from the age of 11 and as a teen made a name for himself in the New York underground music scene. He got lucky when he met producer Timbaland through a friend and caught his first break collaborating on the rapper's songs, including Release and Scream.
When Timbaland discovered Rudolf could play guitar the list of collaborations grew and he worked with many artists including Nelly Furtado, Black Eye Peas and Lil Kim (playing guitar on the 2003 hit The Jumpoff); all the time working on his own songs and producing those of other artists. Rudolf's debut single Let It Rock in 2008 demonstrated his rock-rap sensibilities, featured guest Lil Wayne and was an instant hit, entering the top 5 in both the UK and US charts.
