Keuning grew up in Pella, Iowa where he started playing guitar before starting high school.
The Killers were formed in an impromptu fashion as Brandon Flowers responded to an ad looking for band members Keuning had placed in local paper Las Vegas Weekly. From their first album Hot Fuss released in 2004 to their more recent efforts like 2020’s Imploding the Mirage, each The Killers album has been critically acclaimed reaching top ten spots on the charts.
A true artist before finding his way to The Killers, Keuning tickets barely miss a beat from the band he’s best known for. Keuning’s style is highlighted by intense anthemic solos that smoothly flow into his rhythmic melodies. From easy listening to intricate and magnificent Keunings string skipping and unusual voicing techniques have found him being compared to artists like Andy Summer of The Police.
Keuning personally sites his influences as artists like George Harrison, Keith Richards, Jimi Hendrix, and The Edge. In 2019 Keuning released his first solo album entitled Prismism where he showcases his talent playing the 14 tracks of the album with multiple instruments primarily played by Keuning.
