Willis’ second band was formed in Austin and called Radio Ranch. Her singing caught the attention of Texas songwriters such as Lyle Lovett and Nanci Griffith, who introduced her to Tony Brown. As a producer for MCA, he signed her to MCA in 1989. Her first studio album, Well Traveled Love, was released in 1990.
