Kelly Hunt was born in Memphis, Tenn., to a mother who is an opera singer and a father who is a saxophonist. Music runs in her blood as she started at an early age singing in choir, taking piano lessons and performing at the local theater, you name it, she was in it. She felt inspired by many artists who came before her drawing up inspiration as she listened to numerous different genres from Norah Jones to John Denver to even classical legends like Rachmaninov. When she was introduced to the banjo in college, it was game over as she made it her own while staying true to the bluegrass style.
