He started singing at an early age and won a talent show at the age of eight. He regularly sang gospel songs in his church, but it was country music that really appealed to him. Once he left high school, he moved to Nashville where he signed for the Valory Music Group, a subsidiary of Big Machine Records. He performed in several tours in 2008 with artists like Trace Adkins, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr. He released his debut single 'Back That Thing Up' in 2008 and Justin Moore tickets became more popular. Moore took part in a promotion called 'So You Want to Be a Record Label Executive' in 2009, where fans were asked to pick a playlist of ten of his songs which had been published on social media sites. The top ten most popular songs were then included in his self-titled debut album 'Justin Moore' in 2009, which reached number three in the Top Country Albums Chart. His second single 'Small Town USA' followed in 2009 and reached number one in the Hot Country Songs Chart. The album and single were promoted in a series of small towns near his hometown in the USA. The single 'Backwoods' (2009) was released, followed by 'How I Got to Be This Way' (2010).
In 2011 Moore released a cover version of the Rhett Akins song 'If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away', which climbed the Hot Country Singles Chart to number one. It was also recognized with two awards from the Inspirational Country Awards in 2011. The song was a pre-release of his second album 'Outlaws Like Me' (2011) which reached number one in the Billboard Country Charts and was certified platinum for sales. Further top 20 singles released from the album in 2011 were 'Bait a Hook' and 'Till My Last Day'. Moore embarked on a tour in 2013 which coincided with the release of his third studio album, 'Off the Beaten Path'. Singles 'Point at You' and 'Lettin' the Night Roll' were also released in the same year, the latter becoming his fourth number one on the Country Airplay Chart in 2014.
By this time, Moore had developed a huge fan base, with his tracks being downloaded and streamed millions of times online. Moore was awarded the New Artist of the Year award at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2014. He went on to release his fourth studio album 'Kinda Don't Care' in 2016 which included the popular single 'You Look Like I Need a Drink', reaching number one on the Country Airplay charts later that year. Moore released his fifth studio album 'Late Nights and Longnecks' in 2019. The album features popular singles 'The Ones That Didn't Make It Back Home', 'Jesus and Jack Daniels' and 'Some Day I Gotta Quit' which were all released in 2019.
