He began attending the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, PA at age 17 where he studied under one of the most renowned pianists in the world, Leon Fleisher.
Biss made his recital debut in 2000 at the 92nd Street Y in New York City and the following year performed alongside the New York Philharmonic led by the legendary maestro Kurt Masur. His career went international in 2002, launching a series of performances throughout Europe after becoming the first American to be named as a BBC New Generation Artist and winning a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award in 2003. He made his debut at Carnegie Hall in 2011 and has since performed in incredible venues all over the world with some of the best orchestras and companies like the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.
